Emulsion Polymers – Formulation and Properties of Coatings and Inks

3 DAY LECTURE AND LABORATORY WORKSHOP

OFFERED ONCE PER YEAR: (CRS# 00.739-021)

OVERVIEW:

A three day seminar and laboratory workshop covering the fundamental concepts important in manufacture, characterization and applications of emulsion polymer latexes. Topics include colloidal stability, formulation of emulsions, polymerization kinetics and mechanisms, characterization of particle surfaces, emulsion polymer latex properties specific to rheology, morphology, polymerization with functional groups, and film formation. Systems of particular relevance in formulating paints, industrial coatings, inks, cosmetics, pharmaceutical and domestic cleaning products and various applications problems will be reviewed.
