Satan went against what God wants most from people; a life guided by the goodness of ones intentions. Satan went to opposite extremes and opted for a life lead by evil. In essence. he went against the way of life that God would have opted him to choose. Satan was already living a life of righteousness in Heaven, a life he chose to give up for self-gratifying purposes.
In the Lord's Prayer there is a line that says "thy will be done, on Earth as it is in Heaven......and forgive us our trespasses." Once Satan left Heaven, all his innate goodness seemed to disappear and was replaced with sinfulness. Even though Satan went against God and what God desires from people, Satan will always be welcomed back into Heaven with open arms and forgiveness would be granted to him by God. God is all forgiving, but its up to Satan to look past his pride in order to have the courage to return to a place he so seemingly misses.
