The use of anaphora with the word ìinfiniteî (4:74) expresses Satanís mind-set of having to live like that forever.  It is not a feeling that will go away with either choice he makes, for whichever way he chooses to ìflyî (4:73) ìinfinite wrathî (4:74) and ìinfinite despairî (4:74) will follow him.  Infinite pertains to the unbounded feeling that is prevalent in Satan's mind.  Satan is filled with the two extremes of wrath (anger) and despair (hopelessness).  Both of these feelings are a direct consequence of his actions which lead him to where he is now, in hell.  He is angry towards himself and towards God for where he ended up.  His sense of hopelessness will forever remain because he knows in his mind that even if he chooses to repent, he will wind up right back where he is due to his pride and his ambition.  This is now his destiny no matter what decision he now makes.

Once Satan was able to experience the world outside the goodness of Heaven, he added feelings and sensations that he never knew or experienced before.  He never knew about hopelessness and anger, until he left the comfort of Heaven to experience his newfound thing called sin.  These feeling will now forever be apart of his experience.  Satan can now pair those feelings with past experiences, and possibly give us a better insight as to why he chose to go against God and all that Satan once believed in
