ìBy
his self-assertive efforts, Satan achieves existence in Hell.
In hating God, the ground of his own being, and creation, of which he is
apart, Satan inevitably puts a curse on himself.î
(Pg. 38, Frye. God, Man, and Satan)
Satanís
quintessence (soul and heart) was filled with only noble thoughts and deeds
given to him by God, until the one thing Satan was deprived of (power) took over
all that was good in him, damning him to the hell he is suffering in now.
Satanís mind was warped by the innocence of his being.
Had he had experience, and known the difference between good and evil by
getting to experience both, than he would know and be better acquainted with
which he desires the most. Since
Satan went against God, and chose evil over the good that God wants in man, he
inevitable curses himself by no fault of his own.
Once you see good and evil for what they both are worth, if one is more
tempting than the other, offering what you desire the most, then going back to
the opposite extreme as much as you may want to, may be more of a difficult
decision that one may want to make.
"There is no genuine repentance over his sin of rebellion. He still disdains submission to God as much as ever, and pride prevents his admission to the rebels that he lied to them. His sorrow, is a self-pitying sorrow which is concerned not with his sin but with his loss." (Pg. 175. Sims, James H. The Bible In Milton's Epics)
