Thy pride and wandering vanity
Eve has no real concern in paradise, nor does Adam, its paradise so they don’t have any big crisis to concern themselves with. When Eve was created, she instantly falls in love with her reflection in the lake. All Eve seems to be into is herself, with her pride and vanity Eve doesn’t have much in the way that would make Adam fall in love with her. What she does have though is her beautiful features. God creates Eve this way, so that she wouldn’t be superior to Adam, who was created first. Eve was created only for the reason that Adam was lonely. Eve does though have reason to be vain, and one reason would be is that she knows she was created last and also because God felt bad and didn’t want Adam to be alone in that magnificent paradise. In book VIII Eve is described by Adam saying, “Her loveliness so absolute she seems And in herself complete so well to know,” What Adam is saying is that her awe inspiring looks are without limitation and to Adam Eve is completely together. Adam also says that, “that what she wills to do or say seems wisest, virtuousness, discreetness, best”. Therefore, Adam at first meeting of his soul mate originally thinks that Eve just doesn’t have beauty, but she also has wisdom, she noble quality and the absolute best of everything that is worthy of him and his love. However Adam sees her in a different way, by book X he sees her pride and vanity not as an attraction, but as a distraction.
