Satan was not alone in his rebellion and the other angels who joined with him were banished to Hell. These angels became demons branded with a special mark and they lost their angelic names. For example, Satan was called Lucifer (bearer of light) in Heaven. God has sentenced them all to death which will happen slowly as the fires of Hell slowly reduce them to ashes. The word "beneath" is a significant word choice. Physically it relates to the fallen angels in Hell being beneath Heaven; morally it shows that these angel's standards were below that of what God expected; and spirituosly it shows that all those who disobey God will be beneath his mercy and grace.
