The SUN is like a warden of sorts, keeping watch over him as he works his evil. The SUN is blazing; it hurts him. Satan is used to the dark and dank areas of Hell, and it is painful for him to be exposed to the light. What was once a pleasure has become painful. His soul has killed all of the light left within it, and now all that remains is a memory. The SUN is pure and ruins any chance of secrecy; this suggests that all of Satan’s deeds are done out in the open in full view of God, to his ultimate shame. No more than Adam and Eve are able to clothe their shame with fig leaves and hide from God, can Satan hide his evil. The word BLAZING used to describe the sun almost includes it as part of the tortures of Hell, that all that was once comforting has become painful. The word is a direct reference to the fires of Hell. Also, the word SUN could be compared to the word "son", in which case it could infer that the "son", Jesus, has taken the place of Satan as God’s favorite.
