God truly blessed Adam and Eve. Not only did He give them life, but He also gave them freewill. Freewill plays a vital part in this poem. God gave us the right to do what we want making us different from all the other things created. This means that we have to choose right from wrong. We have to decide whether or not to give in to temptation like Adam and Eve did.
God blessed them, and because of this they fully depended upon God for everything. Some religions, such as Catholicism, have created their own "views" on blessings that are not seen in scriptures. They believe that a pope or another figure, that they have created to be something important, has a power to "bless" an object.
