Here, Eve puts off the conclusion of this affair. She is still skeptical.  Milton is making woman look bad in this line. It looks as if Eve is getting weaker, and weaker with every word. Women are portrayed as being the weaker of the sexes and more vulnerable to temptation. If the serpent had tried to tempt Adam first, there would never have been this fall. Satan only tempted Eve first because he knew that she would succumb to his words, because she was a woman.
