Eve wants to know why the serpent who is not supposed to talk, came to be friendly to her. Why isn't the serpent talking to the rest of the beasts? The serpent was acting like Eve's friend. A friend is someone who is there for you when you need them. They do not try to get you into trouble. Eve's only other friend is Adam. The serpent acts like a true friend to Eve because he tells her the truth, as she thinks. There are many problems here. The only person that Eve has ever talked to was Adam, so now she is excited to have a new friend, who she could have conversations with. The words "brutal kind" characterize the beast. Eve wants to know why the rest of the garden beasts don't talk, when she sees them on a daily basis. She also wants to know why the rest of the beasts aren't this nice. This gives Satan a perfect opening to do what he wants with her because she really wants the gift of knowledge. The serpent is different because he is possessed by Satan. Satan does use bits of truth to tempt her because he does tell her that she will have knowledge about things.
