Creation day is the day that God created the world. He created the universe in a short time period. Eve’s amazement here is a bad sign. It forebodes the future and the fall of man. By adopting this plan, Satan ruins the creation story. Satan was one of the people who were created at this time. He will ruin God’s creation of Adam and Eve. Eve has no idea about this right now. Eve knew that beasts were incapable of producing speech or vocal sound. They are also incapable of producing the language of a human being. So yes, Eve is amazed that this animal, that is supposed to be mute, can talk. This part is included in Milton’s text, but not in the bible. Milton puts this in to show how vulnerable Eve is. The audience would have a positive response to the text here, because they would find it most interesting to hear how the woman fell into sin first.
