Eve must pay special attention to the beast. The snake is just an empty brute that Satan fills and uses. Satan is a wonder, and he does have a claim to her attention. God is a wonder too, but this serpent seems more unbelievable than God. When Eve saw this beast contrary to nature, she should have known that something was wrong. She was warned already about this, but she didn't listen. She listens to Satan though because his words are very appealing to her. Listening to his words is a sin itself.
