This word illustrates the ironic point that Satan is referring to God as the “Threat’ner” when Satan, himself, is the actual threat. Satan also manipulates the word because Threaten usually means to intentionally want to hurt or harm somebody and in this case Satan does. So while it is true that in a way God did threaten Adam and Eve not to eat of the tree he did it out of love and not out of wanting to harm them.
