            Here Satan is trying to tell Eve that God does not want her or Adam to be like him but instead wants to keep them low and ignorant  by not allowing them to have knowledge of good and evil.  In Christianity God prevented the knowledge of good and evil out of his love to protect his creation.  Before the fall there was not evil nor fear so Satan is in actuality imposing both evil and fear on Adam and Eve by trying to make them believe that God is selfish and only wants them to be inferior to him.
