Text Haas, Weir, Thomas & Dugapolski, University Calculus, Custom Edition for University of Massachusetts Lowell, ISBN 055839020X, Addison Wesley, 2009. The edition sold at the bookstore includes access to the online portion of the course.
Prerequisites Algebra & trigonometry.

Homework Homework is done in CourseCompass and from the textbook (see below). You will need Microsoft Internet Explorer, Firefox or Safari, along with Adobe Flash Player, Adobe Reader and QuickTime, to access all the features at this site.

Additional recommended homework exercises will be listed for each section as the course progresses. Each Friday the homework list will be updated. See below for the list so far.
Quizzes There will be quizzes on most Fridays throughout the semester. There are no makeups for missed quizzes, however the two lowest quiz scores will be dropped. These Quizzes constitute 20% of the course grade.
Exams There will be two Midterm Exams and a comprehensive Final Exam. Calculators will not be permitted. However, you are allowed one 8.5" x 11" sheet of paper (cheat sheet) with any facts and definitions (no solved problems). Missed exams cannot be made up without documentation from the dean of students.

The first midterm exam will be held in class on October 7.

The second midterm exam will be held in class on November 4.

The final exam will be on Monday, December 19 at 3pm in Olney 150.

Absences Attendance will not be taken, but you are of course responsible for everything said in class.
Grading
In class approximate score:   Quizzes - 20%, Midterm Exams - 20% each, Final Exam - 40%.

Homework counts for extra credit as follows —

Homework average 95 - 100 90 - 94 85 - 89 80 - 84 75 - 79
Points added to score 5 4 3 2 1

The final grade is assigned as follows —
