Course Syllabus is located in this PDF file.
Lab Group Sections for this semester.
Final Project Groups are identified here.
Lab Safety Sheet is located here and must be signed by each student

O

Ownership of Material is located in this PDF file. This is a project that will be presented in late October but is being made available now so that you can use the next week constructively until the weekly labs start up. The short writeup and power point presentation are due 9/27/06 in class

Spectral Analysis Notes contains material relative to the use of the spectrum analyzer and measurement techniques for the Spectrum Analyzer Lab and Frequency Response Function Lab
Frequencies_of_Common_Systems contains formulas for the calculation of natural frequencies of several common configurations. The free-free beam is the configuration most applicable for the calculation of the beam frequencies for lab
Single Plane Balancing contains some useful notes for the single plane balancing lab

The following section contains the writeups for the laboratory assignments - these are the OLD writeups and will be updated prior to the lab exercise.

Note that Lab #1 and Lab #2 are related to spectral processing using the Dactron Photon FFT analyzer and are described in the lab write up.
There is also a voice annotated overview of the Dactron analyzer here -
Dactron FFT Analyzer overview (needs Flash Plugin loaded)
Lab #1 -- Spectrum Analysis Lab and Dactron FFT Analyzer overview
Lab #2 -- Frequency Response Function Lab and Dactron FFT Analyzer overview
Lab #3 -- Single Plane Balance Lab
Lab #4 -- Wind Tunnel Lab and OLD Calibration Data
Lab #5 -- Pump Lab and OLD Calibration Data
    Lab #6 -- Laser Lab

The following section contains the writeups for the "Design of a Measurement System". All groups are expected to provide weekly updates to keep the projects on schedule.

Final Project Groups are identified here.
Final Project Overview provides brief overview in class.

Cantilever Beam Project - Avitabile. There are two separate supplementary reference files for this project. Brief set of FEM Notes and some dynamic systems/measurement notes In addition, some MATLAB scripts are provided

      Pressure Gage/Vessel Project - Avitabile

Service/Learning Playground Project - Charmchi. NOTE: Prof Duffy will provide some extra material regarding the service learning portion of this project.

Multi-staged Load Cell Project - Avitabile

Fluid Flow Redesign Project - Charmchi

NOTE: A preliminary assessment of the project (test plan, approach proposed, equipment needed) MUST be identified in a ONE page summary by Nov 8th - FOR ALL GROUPS. (I am requiring a hand-in document for your benefit. Each group must clearly define what is needed to accomplish their project so accommodations can be made.)

Report writing guidlelines are identified on the Mechanical Engineering Lab I webpage (22.302)
