HOMEWORK ASSIGNMENTS
Make sure you look at the Modal Space articles so you have an idea of what subject matter is discussed in each article. Make sure you read the article on Experimental Modal Analysis - A Simple Non-Mathematical Overview
Here is a copy of the notes that I use for the 3 hour overview of modal analysis for the Young Engineer Program at IMAC21 Jan 2003 - these notes have a good collection of all the color graphics that I typically use to explain various aspects of modal related topics

PROJECT ASSIGNMENTS
This section identifies the Project Assignments for the semester.
Project 1 is intended to get you started with the development of modeling techniques that will be used throughout the entire semester.
Project 2 is a treatment of model reduction and model expansion.
Project 3 is a treatment of structural dynamic modification.
Project 4 is a treatment of system models with reduced physical components.
Project 5 is a treatment of correlation of analytical and experimental data. The experimental data is located here.
The final projects for each student are identified in individual files Marden Chipman Williams Butland Nicgorski Carney Gibson Kremer Tavilla

ADMINISTRATIVE INFORMATION
This section contains material that has been already handed out in class or is only available in electronic format. Most of the material here has been prepared in Adobe PDF format.

This section will be developed as the semester progresses.
Syllabus for ME 22.515
Lectures and Projects will be available shortly

These are non-printable PDF files of class notes I used for class will be included in this section. I am providing them as an additional resource to you. Also see the Dynamics Systems Course page and Vibrations Course page which have other reference notes They will be updated and expanded as I prepare more material.

There is not really a good text book that goes along with the material to be presented in this course. The best sourse of significant content is from the theoretical portions of my dissertation and is provided here (and is significantly cheaper than a text book that doesn't address the material appropriately) Model Reduction/Model Expansion/Correlation contains theoretical development of that material

There are some additional reference notes available on the Dynamic Systems homepage 22.451 Dynamic Systems and the Vibrations homepage 22.457/550 Vibrations that may be of interest.
For any problems, contact Peter_Avitabile@uml.edu
or come to my office during office hours (but at times they may appear complex !!!)
