This archive contains articles collected from the pages of the The New York Times about historical breakthroughs in the world of communications technology.

Some of these pieces date back to the middle of the nineteenth century.  Many of the articles were written at times when major advances in communications technology were still on the horizon and thus provide an often surprising view of the ways in which the telephone, radio, television, and computers were seen before these devices transformed everyday life.

Note:  If you do not have library access, you can retrieve these articles by copying and pasting article titles into Google.
