Course Description
This course is designed to orient you to the university and to your chosen field, mathematics. You will learn about the mathematics program, the mathematics faculty and their research interests, careers in math-related areas, internship opportunities, and university resources.
Course Objectives
By participating in this course, you will
- get to know some of the faculty in the Department of Mathematical Sciences and learn about their research interests;
- learn about career opportunities in math-related areas;
- learn about the requirements for earning a degree in mathematics;
- learn about the internship program and other programs available to math majors;
- learn about resources available to you to help you succeed at the university; and
- get to know your fellow math majors.

Grading Policy
Course grades
Course grades will be based on attendance. You will earn a grade of S (Satisfactory) if you have no unexcused absences; otherwise you will earn a grade of U (Unsatisfactory).
