Associate Vice Chancellor

Entrepreneurship and Economic Development

Develop and implement campus initiatives that encourage and support entrepreneurship and economic development. Member of the Chancellor's Cabinet.

 

2011-present: Massachusetts Medical Device Development Center (M2D2), Lowell, MA 

Co-Director
Provide executive management, direction and outreach for the University’s medical device incubator. Member of Executive Board.

 

2011-present: Merrimack Valley Sandbox, Lowell, MA

Campus Liason to the Merrimack Valley Sandbox

Serve as primary campus liason to the MV Sandbox project, a multi-million dollar project funded by the Deshpande Foundation to support the development of an entrepreneurial ecosystem in the Lowell-Lawrence region. Meet regularly (2-3 times per month) with MV Sandbox staff to assist in planning and implementation of various entrepreneurial initiatives.   Traveled to Hubli, India during Winter Intersession to represent campus at the 2012 Development Dialogue event in Hubli.

Direct the recruitment, assessment and business development of medical device inventions and startup companies in this incubator. Direct the integration of experiential learning activities for COM students. Assist four graduate students in securing Mass. Life Science Internships with incubator start-up companies. Also a member of the M2D2 Executive Board which meets bi-weekly throughout the calendar year.

Oversee the expansion of online learning through the design and development of online certificate and degree programs. Identify and develop new program opportunities including student markets, faculty recruitment and development. Oversee scalable development of technology infrastructure and services. Research, design and develop quality monitoring and accreditation strategies for the online program. Responsibilities include program development, faculty development, technology development, coordination with University academic/administrative units and supervision of full time and student staff.

Initiated the development of the web-based CyberEd distance learning program. Responsible for the development of on and off-campus training programs through the University’s Multimedia Certificate program. Provide faculty recruitment and training in use of multimedia technology.

Develop and provide multimedia training, technical assistance and outreach activities for federally funded demonstration project investigating the application of environmental control and home automation technology for individuals with disabilities.
