SUMMER OPPORTUNITY in SCIENCE (SOS) RESEARCH (2003):
I spent the summer of 2003 in the Summer Opportunity in Science (SOS) program working with Dr. David Ryan. I learned different techniques of analysis used in analytical chemistry such as UV-vis, Fluorescence, FTIR and NMR. I worked on detecting humic materials in a fermentation broth. The broth was centrifuged to separate the precipitate from the supernatant. Both precipitate and supernatant were analyzed by UV-vis, Fluorescence and NMR Spectroscopy.
SENIOR THESIS IN CHEMISTRY (2006-2007):
Analysis of mercury in environmental and biological samples using a long-path UV absorbance detector.
