Manos Gkikas received his M.Sc. and Ph.D. in Chemistry from the University of Athens, Greece in 2012, where he focused on polymer science and organic chemistry. After working as a postdoctoral scholar at Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Dept. of Chemical Engineering, he joined UMass Lowell, Department of Chemistry, in 2016 as an Assistant Professor. His research interests include Synthetic Polypeptides and Collagen Hydrogels, Hemostatic Nanomaterials, Graphene-based Materials, Antimicrobial Drugs, Metallic Nanoparticles for Cancer/COVID/Arthritis Diagnostics, Biomaterial-based Tissue Adhesives/Sealants, and Alzheimer's Drug Delivery Formulations. He has strong collaborations with Massachusetts General Hospital, UMass Medical School, and the Biomedical Imaging Center at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, and is a member of the UMass Center for Clinical and Translational Science and the UMass NeuroNexus Initiative. He also serves as a Reviewer for many high impact journals.
