To live again in these wild woods, forlorn? 9:910
It is important to note that at the beginning of this phrase, Milton uses the words wild woods, which is a personification. He wants to give them an animal-like quality in order to make them seem less attractive. Adam does not want to live alone with out Eve, forlorn. The OED describes forlorn as sad or lonely because of isolation of desertion, Nearly hopeless. This is a good description of Adams feelings. He would feel nearly hopeless living alone. Adam asks eve if she plans for him to live this way, but it is more like he is telling her that he can not.
