2008 Fall Honors Courses
What's up with the Honors Workshop? Go to ISIS and you will see that there are two sections, each with a long and overlapping time on Thursdays.  On weeks where there is a guest speaker, the two sections will meet together but only for a common 75 minute period, not for the whole long session.  On weeks where there is not a guest speaker, each section will meet for the same separate 75 minute period as they do on Tuesday.  Prof. Szczesiul from English will be teaching Workshop.  It should be a great experience.

NOTE:  The Honors Workshop (since Fall 2005) now fulfills the Honors Writing Requirement.  You must complete the Honors Workshop before beginning your thesis.

Mandatory THESIS Meeting for Juniors:

Monday, April 28, 4:30-6:30

Honors Office SO320

The purpose of this meeting is to clarify the THESIS requirement.  All honors students who plan to graduate in 2009 must attend this meeting.  We'll have pizza. Meeting will be held in the Honors Office.  RSVP  honors@uml.edu or x2797.  You must have a documentable conflict to be excused from this meeting.

Do not let thesis intimidate you!  Come and get the straight talk.

Spring Honors Lecture online! As part of the Chancellor's Inauguration festivities, author Jonah Lehrer (Proust was a Neuroscientist) came to campus.  He chatted with students in the Honors Workshop and presented a talk entitled, "The Future of Science is Art" to an engaged and receptive audience.  The Honors Program purchased copies of his book for students in the program; if you haven't picked up your copy, you may still do so.
