Vikas Kaushal is a graduate student in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at University of Massachusetts Lowell where he has been a part of the BDT team as a graduate research assistant since September 2007. Vikas completed his Masters degree in Solid State Specialization in the Department of Physics at the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) in Kharagpur, India. As an MTech project at IIT, he studied and fabricated germanium based thin films and nanocrystals for device applications. He earned a gold medal for his Masters work from the Department of Physics at Punjabi University Patiala, India in 2005. Currently he is working on the modeling, fabrication and testing of Ballistic Deflection Transistors to study its behaviour due to the variations in its geometry and various other parameters.
