COURSE DESCRIPTION:  The study of Spanish (Iberian) Civilization from the peninsula's origin (the prehistoric period) to the present day (Democracy).

 


COURSE OBJECTIVES:  

The objective of this course is to examine and trace the Spanish Iberian Peninsula from its origins to the contemporary period.  The aim is to acquire a more complete and detailed specificity of the Iberian peninsula through the study of its geography, history and the arts.

 
 


GENERAL COURSE INFORMATION:  

    Attendance policy:  

More than three (3) unexcused absences and the student's grade will be lowered a complete letter grade.  Over six (6) unexcused absences and the student will receive a failing grade for the semester.  

    Classroom etiquette:  

Students who are over 10 minutes late for class will be marked as absent;  it is extremely rude and disruptive to your companions and to the professor.  The following is not allowed in the classroom:  eating, chewing gum, or any electronic device.  Part of learning a language and its culture is to comprehend the other civilization.  Therefore, no hats are to be worn in the classroom at any time.

GRADING POLICY:  

There will be approximately four (4) tests.  Your final grade will be divided in the following manner:

90%    examinations (4)
10%    class participation

There will be no make-up exams.
