· Graduate students: Two Ph.D. student positions are available immediately, starting as early as Spring 2011, in the Department of Chemical Engineering at the University of Massachusetts Lowell, USA. Students who have a Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering are preferred; however, other closely related majors including Materials Science and Engineering, Chemistry, Polymers, or Biochemical/ Biomedical Engineering will be considered. A Master’s degree is preferred, but is not required. The first position is in the area of nanomaterials synthesis (nanoparticles and nanowires), materials characterization (SEM, TEM, XRD, AFM, etc); prior experience with catalysts, electrochemistry, or electrospinning will be a plus. The second position is in the area of nanomaterials assembly and nano-device integration; related experience in self-assembly, electronics assembly and packaging, nano-sensors or biosensors is desired.

· Undergraduate students: undergraduate students are encouraged to join the group to either conduct independent research project or take supervised course for credits.
