Bobby Antony received his PhD in atomic-molecular physics from SP University, Gujarat, India in December, 2005. He joined theoretical molecular spectroscopy group of Professor Robert R Gamache as a post-doctoral research associate on the 1st January 2006. Dr. Antony's major research interests include line shape parameter calculations for atmospheric molecules and electron collision studies with atoms & molecules.  Bobby currently is a Assistant Professor in the Deptartment of Applied Physics at the Indian School of Mines in Dhanbad, India

Research:
Currently we perform theoretical line shape calculations to determine the half-width and line shift for water vapor, methane & ozone transitions in the Earth's atmosphere. The research goals are to develop the theory and elucidate the physical mechanisms present in the collosion process. The calculations are in support of measurement campaigns such as NASA's Earth Observing System (EOS) satellites Aqua and Aura and the European Space Agency satellite instruments, MASTER and SOPRANO . The calculations employ the complex implementation of Robert-Bonamy formalism. These calculations can reveal many hidden aspects of broadening and shifting mechanisms like the dependence of the line shape parameters on rotational state, vibrational state, temperature, intermolecular potential, collision dynamics, and method of calculation. Our current codes also have the option to do both the mean relative thermal velocity approximation (mrtv) and the averaging over the Boltzmann distribution of velocities. The present theoretical work is significant since experimental studies can not be preformed over the vast spectral range under all the physical conditions needed to study Earth's atmosphere or the atmospheres of other celestial bodies.
