What Happens Now? Seth C. Lawrence
During the primaries the nation saw Howard Dean surge to the front of the Democratic pack with his enormous following on the internet, but in the end it burst like the dot-com bubble of the 90s. The same thing appears to have happened with the promises of the Left’s new heroes. Radically different and progressive organizations like MoveOn.org in unison with some of Hollywood’s prominent figures, like Sean Penn, appeared and assured the Democrats that they would win. The results have revealed the truth. “This is not the end,” is the promise of MoveOn.org post-election. With new changes coming to the organization and vow to remain a vigilant watchdog of the president, it seems that this is one organization that intends to correct the failures of the past. On the other side of the field President Bush looks to take his second term as a chance to united the country again. Immediately reaching out his hand in friendship to what have become know as the “Blue-Staters.” However, President Bush might be looking at a rough start. The Washington Post has reported, from a unidentified source in the White House, that many of the members of Bush’s inner circle look to be on their way out. What would that mean for the next four years? Well first it would mean that there is fresh blood going into the administration and there would be new and different points of view. It is perhaps just what the Democrats would enjoy, considering their obvious distaste with the past four years. |
