Schedule for Spring 2012

The Calculus 1A/1B Survival Guide contains extremely valuable information that can make the difference

between you passing or failing this course. Read it as if your life in this calculus course depends upon it.

If you know your algebra skills need a tune up, print out and study this Basic Algebra Guide. You must be able

to carry out algebraic operations involving fractions, exponents, and radicals/roots without error if you are to succeed in calculus.

After you attempt the problems in this handout, you can check your solutions here: Solutions. You may also find this

one-page Summary of the Rules of Algebraic Manipulation (not including the Laws of Exponents) useful.

A "memorization track" has been established for Calculus 1A / 1B. The link below provides both a guide to the role of memorization in Calculus AND a required schedule of minimum "memorized" knowledge (i.e., facts, formulas, definitions, etc. that you must be able to recall or quickly derive). WARNING: Quizzes and tests will assume that students know any information listed in this schedule once the corresponding dates have passed.
